Upgrading starts from your account, not from this page. Link an account first — the free tier needs no card — then ask your client for account_status. It returns your account id and the link that opens the checkout for it. That detour exists so a payment can be tied to the right account without us asking for your email up front.
Paddle is the merchant of record: they take the payment, handle VAT wherever you are, and send the invoice. We never see your card.
Questions people ask first
Why would more than one account be the paid line?
One account costs a little storage and a sync process. Several accounts is a different shape of workload — and usually a business using it, not a person catching up on a family group.
What counts as a tool call?
One question your client asks the server: list these chats, search for that word, fetch this image. Connecting does not count, and neither does a client listing the available tools — which some do on every start. In practice 50 is a few short sessions a month, and heavy use is exactly the case we would rather charge for than throttle.
What happens when I hit 50?
Calls return a plain error saying the limit is reached and when it resets, on the 1st. Nothing is deleted, nothing syncs less, and the next month starts clean.
What does “dormant chats are pruned” mean exactly?
A chat with no new message for 30 days is removed from the store, along with its messages. Conversations you actually use stay complete — their old messages are not cut off at 30 days. In practice that removes the long tail of one-off contacts and keeps the handful of threads you would ever ask about. Anything pruned is still on your phone; it was never deleted from WhatsApp, only from our copy.
Why delete an idle free account after 14 days?
Because storing someone's entire WhatsApp history for nothing is both a cost and a liability. If you are not using it, the safest place for that data is nowhere. Link again any time — it is a QR scan.
Would I lose data if I ever stopped paying?
No. A downgrade would drop you to free limits; the store stays until you delete it, and you can export it at any point. Cancelling will never delete messages behind your back.
Is my WhatsApp account at risk?
Linking a device is the same mechanism WhatsApp Web uses. It is still a device you are responsible for — see Security for the honest version, including what automated sending can cost you.
