Terms of use

Last updated 18 September 2026 · hosted alpha

Plain terms for an early service. Using the endpoint means you accept them.

1. What the service is

wacli.me hosts an MCP gateway in front of the open-source wacli CLI. You link your own WhatsApp account as a device; the service syncs that account's history and exposes it to MCP clients you authorise with a bearer token.

2. Who may use it

Anyone who is 18 or older and links an account they control. Do not link an account that belongs to someone else, including an employer's, without their documented permission.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Keep your token secret. Requests made with it count as yours.
  • Use it for conversations you are a party to. No scraping other people's chats, no surveillance of a partner, employee or child who has not agreed to it.
  • No spam, bulk messaging, automated cold outreach or anything else that would violate WhatsApp's own terms.
  • Nothing illegal, and nothing designed to harass.
  • If you run this in a business, you are the controller of your customers' data; act accordingly.

4. Relationship to WhatsApp and Meta

This is an independent project with no affiliation to, endorsement by, or partnership with WhatsApp or Meta. Your use of WhatsApp stays subject to their terms. Using a third-party client can, in their sole discretion, get a number restricted or banned — that risk sits with you, and we cannot appeal it for you.

5. Alpha, availability and change

The service is provided as-is during the alpha. There is no uptime guarantee. Data can be lost. Features, limits and tokens may change or be withdrawn with little notice. We announce what we can, when we can, to the contact address on the account.

6. Payment

No plan is billable during the alpha and no payment data is collected. If paid plans launch, you will be asked to agree to the price before anything is charged; continuing to use the free tier never results in a bill.

7. Suspension

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, endangers the service, or is the subject of a valid legal complaint. Except for urgent cases we tell you first, and you always get your data out.

8. Ending it

You may stop at any time: unlink the device on your phone and ask for deletion. We may end the service with 30 days' notice, with an export window in that period. See Privacy for what deletion covers.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranty and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost profits, or lost data. Liability for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under mandatory product liability law is unaffected. Nothing here limits the statutory rights of a consumer.

10. Law and venue

German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence and may sue where you live. The EU online dispute resolution platform sits at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr; we are not obliged to and do not participate in consumer arbitration.

11. Changes to these terms

Material changes are announced at least 14 days in advance to the contact address on the account. Continuing to use the service after they take effect means you accept them; if you do not, stop and ask for deletion.
